Updated November 1, 2026. Your privacy on ModelOrNot, in plain language.
1. Information you choose to give us
Your email address, if you subscribe, is used only for the emails you signed up for. One click unsubscribes you.
Like almost every website, our server keeps standard logs (IP address, browser and pages requested) to keep the site running and secure.
Simple totals (tool uses, clicks on outbound links) are kept without personal details.
2. What stays on your device
Anything a page remembers for you is kept in your own browser, not on our server.
3. Cookies and third parties
Browsing needs no account. The game uses the cookies described below.
We may use a measurement service like Google Analytics, and possibly ads in the future. These can set cookies, which your browser lets you block.
When you click through to a store, that store’s cookies and privacy rules apply, and we may earn a commission.
4. Accounts
You only need an account to upload a photo. Playing works without one, and signing in is optional for voters. When you sign in we keep your email address and, if you use Google, the account ID Google gives us. We don't receive your Google password, and we don't show your email or your Google name anywhere on the site: other people only see your scout nickname.
If you add an Instagram username, it stays private until a person confirms it is yours, and it only appears on your public profile if you switch that profile on. You can remove it at any time.
5. Photos and the selfie check
Photos are re-encoded when uploaded, which removes hidden data such as camera location (EXIF/GPS). Approved photos are shown to voters in the game. Individual photo pages are hidden from search engines. You can delete your photo anytime from your account or your private link; deleted photos are removed from our servers.
Before a photo goes live, you send a second photo of yourself holding a short code, so a person can confirm the photo is really you. That check photo is never shown on the site, is stored where the public can't reach it, and is deleted as soon as your photo is approved, rejected or deleted.
6. Votes and game stats
We store an anonymous player ID in a cookie on your device to keep your votes, XP and streak. If you sign in, a second cookie keeps you signed in, and your progress moves to your account. To keep results fair we note a coded version of your network address with each vote, so that many votes from one network can't decide a photo's result. We don’t ask for your name or email to play.
7. Age
ModelOrNot is for adults 18+.
8. Selling and sharing
No one buys personal data from us.
We don’t pass your details on, except to service providers that help run the site or where we are legally required to.
9. Your choices
Email safety@modelornot.com to ask what we hold about you or to have it deleted.
10. Children and changes
If you believe a child under 13 sent us personal details, tell us and we’ll delete them.
We’ll post any changes to this policy right here.
